AJ DeLaGarza returns to Galaxy after son’s death

CARSON, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles Galaxy defender AJ DeLaGarza has returned to the team following the death of his infant son.

The team said Saturday that DeLaGarza would be available to play in Sunday’s game in San Jose.

DeLaGarza’s son, Luca, was a week old when he died Sept. 4 after being taken off life support in preparation for heart surgery. He was born with a defect called hypoplastic left heart syndrome, meaning that side of the heart was underdeveloped.

The baby was the first for DeLaGarza and his wife.
