Nicole Kidman’s father dies in Singapore

SINGAPORE (AP) — Actress Nicole Kidman’s father, psychologist Tony Kidman, has died in Singapore, authorities said.

Tan Tock Seng Hospital said Kidman was brought there Friday, but would not release any further details. The University of Technology in Sydney, where Kidman worked as a researcher and practitioner for 43 years, confirmed his death.

He reportedly was in Singapore to visit his other daughter, Antonia, and her family.

Singapore police did not identify him by name, but said in a statement that a man in his 80s was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead. They said they were investigating it as an “unnatural death,” meaning that it was not a result of illness. Media reports said he fell.

Messages for Nicole Kidman’s publicist were not immediately returned.

“Tony has contributed greatly — as a colleague, as a researcher, and as a health practitioner,” University of Technology in Sydney Vice Chancellor Attila Brungs said in a statement. “Tony will be missed by all at UTS.”

The actress, who appeared in this year’s “Grace of Monaco,” has two daughters with husband Keith Urban and a son and daughter with ex-husband Tom Cruise.

Antonia Kidman, who has six children, has been a television presenter and producer.
