Hogan and Brown address local officials

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Republican Larry Hogan says if Maryland residents want a change in leadership in the governor’s office, they should vote for him, while Democratic Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown says the kind of changes Hogan advocates would hurt the state.

The two candidates for governor spoke Friday to the Maryland Municipal League.

Hogan says if voters are happy with Maryland’s current direction, they should probably vote for his opponent. But Hogan says he is the candidate who would bring fiscal changes after eight years of tax hikes and policies he believes are scaring away businesses.

Brown says he is focusing on building Maryland up. He says his opponent would favor the wealthy few at the expense of working families. Brown also is emphasizing his support for education funding and expanding pre-kindergarten.
