Wake dismisses 2 players for violating team rules

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Wake Forest has kicked two players off the football team for violations of undisclosed team rules.

Coach Dave Clawson on Wednesday announced the dismissal of running back Dominique Gibson and center Cody Preble.

Neither player had appeared in a game this season.

Gibson was suspended from the team last month for violating team rules. He was the team’s leading returning rusher, having gained 138 yards on 53 carries with a touchdown in 2013.

Preble had not appeared on the depth chart all season.

The dismissals came two days after backup quarterback Kevin Sousa was suspended indefinitely from the team for violating team rules.
