HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — Undergraduate students from Virginia and elsewhere are on the campus of Marshall University to get a glimpse into the life of a medical student.

The program on the Huntington campus is aimed at so-called students of color. Developed in 2011, the program at Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine is called Project PREMED, or Providing Real World Experiences for Future Marshall Educated Doctors.

It allows students to explore the medical school, observe robotic surgery demonstrations and more.

Among the students attending the program this week are undergrads from the University of Virginia and Hampton University.
