Athletics’ Gentry leaves game following collision

CHICAGO (AP) — Craig Gentry has left Oakland’s game at the Chicago White Sox following a collision at first base while beating out a bunt single.

Coco Crisp had just reached on an error leading off the fifth when Gentry laid down a bunt toward the right side. He beat pitcher John Danks’ throw but his head collided with Carlos Sanchez’s shoulder while the second baseman was covering the bag.

Gentry stayed down for several minutes Tuesday night, holding his head while being tended to by a trainer, before walking gingerly off the field.

Josh Reddick came in to run for him.
