Police: Man put toddler in dryer, turned it on

BANGOR, Maine (AP) — A man is accused of putting a 2-year-old Maine toddler in a clothes dryer and turning it on, burning the boy.

WABI-TV (http://bit.ly/1tFbOs2 ) reports that police say the boy’s mother left him with her boyfriend, Adam Morton, while she went to work. According to court documents, the Bangor boy suffered second-degree burns on his arms and back and burns and blisters on his feet.

Morton, of Berlin, New Hampshire, is being held on $2,500 bail at Penobscot County Jail. It wasn’t immediately known if he has a lawyer.

According to police, Morton admitted he put the toddler inside the dryer but said it was for only one revolution of the drum. A doctor who examined the boy told police he was in there for a prolonged period.
