Villanova rips through Fordham, 50-6

VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) — John Robertson threw for 216 yards, ran for 61, and had four touchdowns to lead Villanova over Fordham 50-6 on Saturday.

Poppy Livers had five receptions for 110 yards and two touchdowns for the Wildcats (1-1).

Villanova’s offense scored touchdowns on three consecutive drives in the second quarter to break the game open, highlighted by Livers touchdown catches of 9 and 21 yards. Austin Calitro also had a 35-yard interception return for a touchdown in the quarter.

Fordham’s Michael Nebrich completed 14 of 28 passes for 182 yards.

Michael Marando connected on field goals of 31 and 38 yards for the Rams (1-1), who were outgained 514-219, at one point surrendering 33 consecutive points.

The game was delayed for an hour and nine minutes in the second quarter because of inclement weather.
