St Francis (Pa) runs past Clarion 27-13

LORETTO, Pa. (AP) — Khairi Dickson ran for 148 yards and two touchdowns to lead St. Francis (Pa.) to a 27-13 win over Clarion on Saturday.

Dickson had 25 carries, scoring on a 3-yard dash and 33-yard run in the first quarter. Max Ward punched in a TD from the 16 and Lance Geesey had 47- and 35-yard field goals for St. Francis (1-1).

The Red Flash held Clarion, a Division II team playing its season opener, scoreless until the fourth quarter and notched its fifth straight home opener under coach Chris Villarrial.

Both teams relied on their ground games, with St. Francis churning out 189 yards rushing and just 86 yards passing compared to Clarion’s 136 yards rushing and 85 yards in the air.

Clarion scored on an 11-yard touchdown run by Delrece Williams early in the fourth quarter, followed by an 8-yard TD pass from Connor Simmons to Mark Nicholas.
