Red Sox 1B Napoli leaves games due to illness

BOSTON (AP) — Red Sox first baseman Mike Napoli has left Saturday’s game against Toronto due to an illness.

Napoli singled and scored on Will Middlebrooks’ RBI single in the second and was replaced defensively at the top of the inning by Daniel Nava.

Napoli was seen talking manager John Farrell during the TV broadcast and walked down the steps toward the clubhouse with one of the club’s trainers.

Boston leads 3-1 in the fourth.
