Louisiana Tech routs Louisiana-Lafayette 48-20

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Kenneth Dixon ran for a 99-yard touchdown to open the scoring in the first quarter and Louisiana Tech never trailed in routing Louisiana-Lafayette 48-20 on Saturday night.

At 6:23 in the first quarter, Louisiana-Lafayette started a 4-play, 18-yard drive that stalled at Tech’s 35. Rather than attempt the long field goal, Daniel Cadona punted to the Tech 1 before Dixon scored on first down. Alonzo Harris answered for Louisiana-Lafayette, running for a 6-yard touchdown to cap a 10-play, 80-yard drive. Louisiana Tech (1-1) scored the next 35 points.

Dixon had 12 carries for 184 yards and scored his second touchdown on a 32-yard run. Cody Sokol was 22 of 33 for 295 yards with two touchdown passes for the Bulldogs.

Terrance Broadway led Louisiana-Lafayette (1-1) with 150 yards passing and 82 yards rushing with a 20-yard touchdown pass to Effrem Reed in the fourth quarter.
