PATERSON, N.J. (AP) — A judge has refused to lower bail for the driver accused of causing a deadly crash at a New Jersey farmers market.

James Woetzel pleaded not guilty to vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident that resulted in death. He remains held on $200,000 bail.

Authorities say the 48-year-old drove his pickup truck through a barricade at the Hawthorne market, killing a woman and injuring two other people on Aug. 10.

The Record (http://bit.ly/VNisOm ) newspaper reports Woetzel’s attorney argued during a bail hearing on Tuesday that his client’s blood sugar was three times higher than normal at the time of the crash and there was no evidence he was intoxicated.

Prosecutors said they’re awaiting the results of blood tests.
