Scott to pursue Australian golf’s triple crown

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — World No. 2 Adam Scott will again pursue Australian golf’s triple crown this summer after narrowly failing to claim the prize at home last year.

Scott confirmed Monday he will play the Australian PGA and Australian Masters tournaments along with the Australian Open at which he will meet top-ranked Rory McIlroy, who denied him the triple crown on the last hole in 2013.

Scott will attempt to become the first player to win the Masters in three consecutive years when he contests the event at Melbourne’s Metropolitan Golf Club from Nov. 20-23.

He will play the Australian Open in Sydney from Nov. 27-30 and his triple crown bid fiishes with the PGA championships from Dec. 11 to 14.
