Ortiz leaves game after fouling ball off foot

BOSTON (AP) — Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz has left Sunday’s game against Seattle in the sixth inning, limping to the dugout after fouling a ball off his right foot two innings earlier.

Ortiz fouled a ball off his foot in the fourth, was down on the ground for a while before continuing his at-bat and striking out.

He singled off the base of the right-field wall in the sixth, but limped badly down the line and barely reached first before the ball was thrown in.

Boston manager John Farrell and a team trainer immediately came out of the dugout and Ortiz left the game for pinch runner Kelly Johnson.
