Justin Meram leads Crew past Dynamo 3-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Justin Meram had a goal and an assist to lead the Columbus Crew over the Houston Dynamo 3-0 on Saturday night.

Meram opened the scoring for the Crew (8-8-9) off a defensive miscue in the 35th minute.

David Horst misplayed a pass in the Dynamo (7-13-4) backfield, allowing Meram to intercept the ball near the top of the box. Horst tried to recover, but Meram evaded and punched the ball into the top of the net.

Adam Bedell made it 2-0 with a header in the 59th minute. Bedell was substituted immediately afterward by Aaron Schoenfeld who notched a third goal for the Crew 5 minutes later.

The victory pulls the Crew into a third-place tie with Toronto FC in the Eastern Conference with 33 points.
