Driver killed after private ambulance crashes

ACCOKEEK, Md. (AP) — Prince George’s County police say the driver of a privately owned ambulance was killed after the vehicle struck a pole and a tree.

The crash occurred shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday in Accokeek.

Police say it’s not clear what led the driver to lose control of the ambulance. The driver died on the scene and was not immediately identified.

The accident occurred on Floral Park Road, which was closed for hours afterward.
