Ex-Baylor star Jones gets prison for choking wife

WACO, Texas (AP) — An attorney for a former Baylor football star says concussions are partly to blame for the ex-player’s anger issues as he is sentenced to prison for domestic violence.

LaCurtis Jones was sentenced Monday to prison terms of three and two years, to run at the same time. Jones admitted to choking his wife during a fight at his mother’s house in February.

His attorney, Thomas West, told the Waco Tribune-Herald (http://bit.ly/1rj2nOK ) that Jones’ “history of concussions” could have made it more difficult for him to control his anger.

Jones was an All-Southwest Conference linebacker at Baylor in 1994 and 1995, before a brief NFL career.

He pleaded guilty to assault family violence and evading police. He was already in state jail for a theft conviction.
