Dayton council OKs golf carts on some roadways

DAYTON, Va. (AP) — Dayton residents can now use golf carts to get around town.

A new ordinance allows golf carts to be driven on roadways with speed limits of 25 miles per hour or less.

The Daily News-Record (http://bit.ly/1t5rZx0 ) reports that Dayton’s Town Council approved the ordinance last week.

The ordinance requires golf carts to be insured and inspected yearly. Owners also must register golf carts with the town. No fees have been set.

The town is working with Virginia Golf Carts Inc. of Harrisonburg to help residents get their vehicles ready.
