Trial postponed for girl accused in dad’s slaying

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (AP) — The trial of a 16-year-old girl charged with first-degree murder in her father’s slaying has been postponed.

The trial for Morgan Arnold of Ellicott City had been scheduled to begin Aug. 18. She is accused of plotting with her boyfriend to kill 58-year-old Dennis Lane.

WJZ-TV reports that a Howard County judge has granted a defense motion to postpone the trial until Feb. 17.

Twenty-one-year-old Jason Bulmer was sentenced last month to 30 years in prison for stabbing Lane in his daughter’s bedroom on May 10, 2013.

Arnold is to be tried as an adult.
