Virginia worker killed in logging truck accident

CULPEPER, Va. (AP) — Police in Arlington say a logging company worker died when a tree rolled off a flatbed truck and struck him.

Arlington police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck says 30-year-old Franklin Talley Jr. was trying to secure a load of logs on the truck last week when one of them fell off, striking him in the head.

Sternbeck says Talley was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Culpeper Star-Exponent (http://bit.ly/1uG3h5u) reports Talley worked for Culpeper-based C.M. Hauling and Clearing. Company owner Cary Michael Payne says Talley had been employed for about five weeks.
