Houston airport worker dies after 45-foot fall

HOUSTON (AP) — A contract worker has died after falling about 45 feet from an elevated rail track at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston.

Houston police say the accident happened Tuesday night as the worker checked the tracks.

Airport spokesman David Hebert (AY’-behr) on Wednesday said the Bombardier (bum-BAR’-dee-ay) Transportation worker was walking along the line when he fell and that he likely lost his footing.

Hebert says the worker was doing preventative maintenance on the airport’s above-ground train system. The worker died at the scene near Terminal C.

Bombardier Transportation spokeswoman Maryanne Roberts said Wednesday that the company is cooperating with the investigation. She had no further details on the worker, whose name has not been released.
