Hunter hit by pitch, leaves with bruised hand

NEW YORK (AP) — Detroit Tigers outfielder Torii Hunter left Tuesday night’s game with a bruised left hand after being hit by a pitch from New York Yankees reliever Dellin Betances.

Hunter was struck in the ninth inning of a tie game. Hunter went down on one knee, was checked by a trainer and exited.

The Tigers said X-rays were negative.

Betances hit Hunter with a curveball. An inning earlier, the All-Star reliever threw a 100 mph fastball to strike out Tigers star Miguel Cabrera.
