Youth charged with arson, attempted murder

WOODBRIDGE, Va. (AP) — Fire officials say a 17-year-old has been charged with attempted murder and arson in a house fire in Woodbridge.

Prince William Fire and Rescue says the blaze was reported about 4:30 a.m. Sunday on Marbury Lane. Authorities say firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze and the four occupants escaped without injury.

An investigation by the Prince William County Fire Marshal’s Office determined that the fire had been deliberately set.

The youth was arrested and charged with four counts of attempted murder, one count of arson and one count of manufacturing an explosive device/materials or fire bomb. He is being held at a juvenile detention center.
