Partial building, roof collapses reported after possible tornado touches down north of Boston

REVERE, Mass. (AP) — A fire official in Massachusetts says there are reports of partial building and roof collapses after a powerful storm.

The National Weather Service says it will investigate to determine whether a tornado may have touched down Monday north of Boston, in the area of the town of Revere.

Revere Deputy Fire Chief Mike Viviano says the department has received dozens of calls reporting partial building and roof collapses, and downed trees and power lines.

Viviano says there were no immediate reports of serious injuries.

A powerful storm moved through the Boston area shortly after 9 a.m., prompting the weather service to issue a tornado warning for portions north of the city.

Meteorologist Kim Buttrick from the weather service says the warning was issued when rotation was seen within the storm.
