Banjo, fiddle contests set for Va. state fair

DOSWELL, Va. (AP) — The State Fair of Virginia is seeking banjo players and fiddlers for a contest.

The fair’s open and youth fiddle and banjo contests will be held on Oct. 4 in the Triple Crown Amphitheater at Meadow Event Park in Caroline County.

Registration will take place on the day of the contests and no pre-registration is required. Contestants must buy fair admission tickets, and entry into the contests is included with admission.

First-place winners in the open banjo and fiddle contests will receive $100. Cash prizes also will be awarded through fourth place. First- through fourth-place winners in the youth banjo and fiddle contests will receive ribbons.
