PARIS (AP) — French President Francois Hollande (frahn-SWAH’ oh-LAWND’) says he wants the remains of all passengers on the Air Algerie plane that crashed in Africa to be taken to France. And he wants the site of the catastrophe marked with a memorial to the 118 who died.

Fifty-four of the victims were French and Hollande has taken a leading role in the aftermath.

U.N. peacekeepers in Mali have found the plane’s second black box. The French president says the data and voice recorders must be analyzed as quickly as possible to determine the cause of Thursday’s crash.

French authorities have said extreme bad weather was the probable cause but aren’t ruling out anything, including terrorism. The plane went down in a restive area of Mali where extremists roam.
