Sailor dies following fall from barracks balcony

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — The Navy says one of its sailors has died after falling from the sixth-floor balcony of a barracks at Naval Station Norfolk.

The Navy says the sailor was of two that got into an altercation at Wall Manor on Tuesday night. Wall Manor is a barracks for transient personnel.

Both sailors were taken to Norfolk Sentara General Hospital.

The Navy said Wednesday that the sailor who fell had died. The Navy says the other sailor’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Both sailors were assigned to the Norfolk-based aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman.

The Navy says the incident is under investigation.
