WASHINGTON — Former Washington Redskins tight end Fred Davis turned himself into police on Thursday after a warrant was issued for his arrest in connection with a domestic violence incident in Adams Morgan last month.
According to a police report, Davis verbally fought with a woman, then threw dirt at her. The incident took place in the 2400 block of 18th Street NW about 3:40 p.m. on June 3.
Davis was a second round draft pick out of the University of Southern California and played for the Redskins from 2008-13, but had been suspended indefinitely by the NFL for violating its substance-abuse policy.
Davis was also arrested for driving while intoxicated on February 21 this year. He was previously accused of assault in a civil suit stemming from an incident in a D.C. nightclub in 2011, for which he was forced to pay the plaintiff nearly $20,000.
