VSP police investigate deadly crash in no. Va.

WARRENTON, Va. (AP) — Virginia State Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a northern Virginia man following a police chase.

State police say Corey M. Chamberlain was thrown from his vehicle late Monday and taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. He later died.

Early Tuesday, the hospital told Trooper J.T. Price the 24-year-old Chamberlain had what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

Chamberlain was being pursued by the Fauquier (faw-KEER’) Sheriff’s Office when the crash occurred. State police say the car left the road and overturned several times, tossing Chamberlain from the vehicle.

Price and other state police personnel returned to the crash scene to investigate further after the hospital reported the apparent gunshot wound.
