Man gets 30 years for killing girlfriend’s father

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (AP) — A man who pleaded guilty to fatally stabbing his 14-year-old girlfriend’s father has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Twenty-year-old Jason Bulmer pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the death of 58-year-old Dennis Lane. He was sentenced Monday in Howard County Circuit Court.

Prosecutors say Bulmer and Morgan Arnold plotted for months to killed Lane so the couple could run away to California. Lane was stabbed in his daughter’s bedroom on May 10, 2013.

Arnold, now 15, has been charged as an adult with murder in the slaying.
