Man, 71, dead after being struck by car in Md.

TOWSON, Md. (AP) — Baltimore County officials say a man is dead after being struck by a car in Essex.

Police and fire officials were called Friday around 9 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian that had been struck by a car in the area of Back River Neck Road and Poles Road. Officials say the driver of a Hyundai Tiburon struck the pedestrian when he stepped into the car’s path. The driver of the Tiburon remained at the scene.

Officials say the pedestrian was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead. Officials identified the man as 71-year-old Willard Patrick Hagy Jr. of Essex.
