WASHINGTON — Homeowners in Fort Washington who were affected by a slope failure in May have already heard two plans that would resolve the problem. On Wednesday, they heard a third plan.
ABC7 reports that Prince George’s County officials laid out a third plan, which would save some of the affected houses, but not all.
Under the new plan, 22 of the 28 houses on Piscataway Drive — the ones that weren’t affected by the failure, but lost water connections — would be saved, ABC7 reported. The plan would cost the county $15 million.
The two previous plans included one that would cost the county $22 million and fix the road and the slope that failed, and would let homeowners return to all 28 houses — but everyone would have to leave for about six months. The other would cost $11 million, buy out all the homes and tear them down. And the road would not be fixed.
Homeowners asked for a closed-door meeting with county officials, ABC7 reported. It is set for July 24.
