2015 Czech MotoGP in doubt over finances

PRAGUE (AP) — The chief executive of the Brno circuit says it doesn’t have the money to organize the Czech MotoGP next year.

Ivana Ulmanova says she has formally handed over to Dorna Sports — the MotoGP rights holder — a notice to cancel the contract for next year’s race.

Ulmanova says the circuit has received a government subsidy of 30 million koruna ($1.5 million) to organize the race this year but has no guarantees yet for 2015.

The Czech Grand Prix, a traditional stop on the MotoGP circuit, is on Aug. 17.

Ulmanova says there are more talks planned between Dorna Sports and Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka during next month’s race in efforts to save it for next year.
