DENVER (AP) — Another Colorado county clerk says he’ll start issuing marriage licenses to gay couples, even though the state’s gay marriage ban is still in effect.

Pueblo County clerk Gilbert Ortiz says he’ll begin giving out the licenses Friday morning.

Denver County’s clerk started handing out same-sex marriage licenses Thursday after a judge’s ruling regarding nearby Boulder County, where a clerk starting granting licenses to gay couples last month.

Judge Andrew Hartman said the Boulder County clerk could continue ignoring a federal stay on an appellate ruling that said states cannot set gender requirements for marriage.

Hartman wrote that the clerk’s action didn’t harm anyone. He also noted the state’s ban is on shaky legal ground after a raft of judicial rulings for gay marriage.

Couples began trickling into Denver City Hall to tie the knot Thursday afternoon.
