Helicopter to inspect Md. utility equipment

BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore Gas and Electric says residents and motorists in central Maryland shouldn’t worry if they see a helicopter hovering near utility equipment including towers, poles and wires.

The utility says that in July and August it will be using a helicopter to inspect electric transmission equipment in Howard County, Baltimore County, Prince George’s County and Anne Arundel County.

The utility says using a helicopter allows the company to inspect the system more efficiently than using ground inspections alone.
