Chelsea Clinton rakes in $75K for speaking events

WASHINGTON — Chelsea Clinton is going into the family business — of delivering paid speeches, that is, and she is receiving a handsome payment for her time, according to the New York Times.

Chelsea, 34, makes as much as $75,000 per appearance, the Times reports.

Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who often speak to trade groups, make between $200,000 and $700,000 per appearance. The former president alone earned $17 million last year through his speaking engagements, the Times reports.

Chelsea’s speeches benefit the family’s philanthropic organization, The Clinton Foundation, with 100 percent of the fees going back into the foundation, her spokesman Kamyl Bazbaz told the Times.

“The majority of Chelsea’s speeches are unpaid,” Bazbaz told the Times.

Organizers say her star power helps sell tickets and raise money.
