Yanks’ Beltran out of lineup with facial contusion

CLEVELAND (AP) — Yankees outfielder Carlos Beltran has been scratched from the lineup after suffering a facial contusion during batting practice.

Beltran was injured when a ball caromed off the batting cage and hit him before Wednesday’s game against the Indians.

Beltran missed the first two games of the series with soreness behind his right knee and was in the lineup as the designated hitter. He’s batting .216 with nine homers and 28 RBIs.

Derek Jeter, who was scheduled to have the night off, will be the DH.

Left fielder Brett Gardner is also out with a lower abdominal strain.
