High temperatures to cause train delays in DC area

WASHINGTON (AP) — For the third day in a row some MARC and VRE customers can expect delays this afternoon because of high heat.

Transit officials said Wednesday that passengers on MARC’s Brunswick Line from the Brunswick stop north to Martinsburg, West Virginia, can expect delays of a few minutes. There were no expected delays on the Camden or Penn lines.

Officials also said Virginia Railway Express trains on the Fredericksburg line will be delayed up to 11 minutes between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. because of the heat. VRE says the farther a person is traveling the longer the delay will be.
