BALTIMORE (AP) — A Maryland man has pleaded guilty to being a member of a drug trafficking conspiracy while employed as an officer with the Baltimore City School Police Force.

Thirty-one-year-old Napoleon McLain Jr. of Randallstown pleaded guilty Monday in federal court in Baltimore to being part of a drug trafficking conspiracy. McLain acknowledged as part of his guilty plea that from no later than December 2012 to August 2013 he was a member of a conspiracy to distribute cocaine base.

McLain acknowledged that he bought cocaine base from suppliers and sold it to others.

McLain faces a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison. His sentencing is set for Oct. 15.

A telephone message left Monday evening for his attorney was not immediately returned.
