Walsh Jennings ties women’s record for wins in US

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Three-time Olympic champion Kerri Walsh Jennings tied the women’s record for beach volleyball tournament victories in the United States with 69, teaming with April Ross to win the AVP Milwaukee Open on Sunday.

Walsh Jennings and Ross beat Brooke Sweat and Laurent Fendrick 15-21, 21-16, 15-13 in the final.

Walsh Jennings tied retired former partner Misty May-Treanor for the record. Walsh Jennings also extended her overall record with her 118th career victory.

Walsh Jennings and Ross have three AVP Tour victories and eight worldwide titles since teaming in September.

In the men’s final, Tri Bourne and John Hyden beat Phil Dalhausser and Sean Rosenthal 21-15, 21-18.
