Doug Kalitta leads Top Fuel qualifying

NORWALK, Ohio (AP) — Points leader Doug Kalitta led Top Fuel qualifying Friday night in the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals with a run of 3.771 seconds at 326.48 mph.

“Tomorrow will be a lot like today so it’ll be interesting to see if we can hold the lead,” Kalitta said. “I’m incredibly lucky to have this opportunity with what we have going on right now. I’m just trying to make the best of it. I’m looking forward to tomorrow and seeing what we can do.”

Del Worsham topped the Funny Car field, points leader Erica Enders-Stevens took the Pro Stock lead, and Eddie Krawiec was the fastest in Pro Stock Motorcyle.

Worsham had a track-record time of 4.000 at 317.34 in a Toyota Camry, Enders-Stevens had a track-record run of 6.523 at 212.63 in a Chevrolet Camaro, and Krawiec had a track-record time of 6.844 at 195.05 on a Harley-Davidson.
