Giants reinstate 1B Belt from disabled list

SAN DIEGO (AP) — The San Francisco Giants have activated first baseman Brandon Belt from the 15-day disabled list.

Belt missed 50 games with a broken left thumb. He is hitting .264 with nine home runs and 18 RBIs in 35 games.

The 6-foot-5 slugger was in the starting lineup for Friday night’s game at San Diego.

Belt takes the roster spot of infielder Adam Duvall, who was optioned to Triple-A Fresno on Thursday.
