La Verdad wins Belmont’s Dancin Renee Stakes

NEW YORK (AP) — The consistent La Verdad earned another victory on Thursday, beating Willet by 1 3-4 lengths in the $100,000 Dancin Renee Stakes at Belmont Park.

La Verdad, a 4-year-old trained by Linda Rice, improved to 9 for 11 with a typical front-running score in the race for New York-bred fillies and mares. Irad Ortiz, Jr. was aboard for the six furlongs in 1:09.99 on the drying-out track rated good.

The 1-5 favorite paid $2.40 and $2.10. Willet returned $2.40.

There was no show wagering on the four-horse field.

Risky Rachel was third followed by Clear Pasaj.
