Fire burns 2 homes in central San Diego County

JULIAN, Calif. (AP) — A TV station says a San Diego County wildfire has burned two homes and hundreds are threatened.

KNSD-TV says its news crews saw the homes burning in the central county area near the mountain town of Julian.

A 100-acre fire erupted around 10:30 a.m. Thursday near Highway 78 and is rapidly moving through the brush near Cleveland National Forest.

Two hundred homes in nearby areas have been ordered evacuated.

Firefighters are battling the flames by air and on the ground.

Wildfires have repeatedly threatened Julian and surrounding areas.

An 11-square-mile fire in July 2013 destroyed more than 100 mountain cabins. The 2003 Cedar Fire burned more than 400 square miles in the county and destroyed hundreds of homes.
