Biden attends niece’s wedding near Syracuse

AUBURN, N.Y. (AP) — For a few hours, he was just Uncle Joe.

Vice President Joe Biden was in the Syracuse area on Saturday to see his niece get married.

The Post-Standard reports (http://bit.ly/TsSVIR) Biden tried his best to keep the focus on bride Marren Hunter and groom Gregory Felter, despite his usual Secret Service detail tagging along.

Hunter’s father is the brother of Biden’s first wife, Neilia Hunter. She died in a car accident in 1972.

The newspaper reports Biden sat with Neilia’s family in the third row.

He didn’t speak during the service and wasn’t mentioned in the wedding program, which included a tribute to Neilia.

Biden’s son, Beau, also attended the wedding. He’s the attorney general of Delaware.

Joe Biden waved to onlookers as he entered church through a side door.
