Man arrested for human trafficking in Cecil County

NORTH EAST, Md. (AP) — A Maryland man has been arrested in Cecil County and is charged with human trafficking after two women said they were being held against their will.

Maryland State Police say 34-year-old Germaine Wiggins of Frostburg was arrested Thursday after police responded to a hotel in North East. A woman told police she had been raped and that she and another woman were being held against their will.

Investigators say both women are from Ohio. They apparently met Wiggins earlier in the week and traveled with him to Pennsylvania and Virginia. They admitted being involved in prostitution and had agreed to work with Wiggins to arrange customers.

While in Virginia, the women told Wiggins they didn’t want to work with him. They say he threatened to kill them if they left.
