Sexual assault reported near NVCC’s Alexandria campus

WASHINGTON – Alexandria police are investigating a reported sexual assault that occurred on Dawes Avenue Monday.

Police responded to Dawes Avenue near Leesburg Pike Monday around 2 p.m., where a 19-year-old woman told police she was walking to the Northern Virginia Community College campus when a man approached her from behind. He grabbed her under her skirt and fled, according to a report from police.

The victim said the man who grabbed her was in his 20s, had a beard and mustache and was 5-feet-4-inches tall and thin, police reported. He was wearing a brown shirt, brown shorts and a black baseball cap.
