WASHINGTON — Smart is the new sexy, according to the dating site Match.com. So they have teamed up with Mensa to help make some very smart matches.

Who knew that geniuses have trouble finding love? Mensa is the high-IQ organization boasting around 57,000 American members.

Their ranks includes folks such as actress Geena Davis, comedian Steve Martin and director Quentin Tarantino. These celebrities may have no problem with romance, but for the average braniac, it may be tough.

But not anymore: Match.com launched Mensa Match this week.

Each profile of a Mensa member will be marked with a Mensa badge. And Match members eager to date brainiacs can even take the Mensa test through the dating site for only $1 up until July 6.

How important is being smart? Eighty percent of the more than 5,300 men and women who responded to Match.com’s Singles in America survey said they “must have,” or “find it very important” to be with, someone of the same intelligence level.

The 2013 survey even pointed out that 89 percent of the singles would make a commitment to someone who is better educated and more intellectual than they. Most men in the survey answered they would definitely date a woman who makes more money than they do and has a better education.
