CHICAGO (AP) — Attorneys for a Chicago terrorism suspect want to see redacted portions of a court hearing held behind closed doors with prosecutors earlier this month.

Adel Daoud’s lawyers made the request late Wednesday in a filing with the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.

They say a heavily redacted transcript from the hearing suggests prosecutors and judges discussed expanded U.S. Internet spying as revealed by Edward Snowden.

The 20-year-old Daoud denies plotting to bomb a Chicago bar in 2012. His attorneys say federal authorities could have illegally flagged him for investigation as he did online research for a paper on Osama bin Laden.

Over defense objections, judges went into secret session with prosecutors on June 4 after oral arguments on a related matter so they could view classified federal records.
