HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) — A New Jersey judge has rejected a bid by the daughter of billionaire Revlon chairman Ronald Perelman to receive a larger slice of an inheritance from the estate of her grandfather who founded the Hudson News newsstands chain.
The Record newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/1qbDHGF ) a judge in Hackensack ruled Wednesday that Samantha Perelman had failed to prove the allegations of undue influence she lodged against the CEO of Hudson Media Inc., her uncle James Cohen.
Hudson News stores are in most major airports.
The Superior Court judge said although family patriarch and Hudson News founder Robert Cohen suffered from physical disabilities he was “legally competent” to choose his heirs and had reduced Perelman’s bequests “by his own free will.”
James Cohen says the ruling vindicates him.
A spokeswoman for the Perelmans says they’re disappointed and evaluating their legal options.
